Trek Wild - Backpacking Certification Training

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This is a two-part training

Classroom Training via zoom - Thursday, October 6, 2022, 7:00pm-9:00pm

Backpacking Overnight Training, in-person, Saturday, October 15th -  Sunday, October 16th, 3:00pm - 10:00am

When you register for this, you are registering for the Classroom Training & the Overnight Training.

Classroom Training via zoom - October 6th, 7:00pm-9:00pm 

Volunteers from Trek Wild, our Volunteer Backpacking and Hiking Group will discuss local trip planning, keeping girls safe on the trail, Girl Scouts of California Central Coast Backpacking Requirements, Meals, Packing List & Gear.

Backpacking Overnight Training & fun time at Gifford Ranch - October 15 - 16, 2022, 3:00 PM - 10:00 AM

The hike: We will hike 2.3 miles in to the old Gifford Ranch. There is old farm equipment, crumbling building foundations, and cows. We will carry in all of our water, 2-3 liters each. 

No stoves: Stoves are not allowed in the backcountry in the fall in the Los Padres National Forest. Trek Wild will bring a couple stoves to show you in the parking lot, but food will be all no-cook. And no hot coffee. :( 

Gear: Borrow a pack, tent, sleeping bag & sleeping pad for free!  Trek Wild will bring dinner & breakfast supplies. You supply personal items & snacks.

On your own: Practice hike with full backpack 1.5 miles, over hills.

Event Fee: $30 per adult  - includes training, meals and group gear
