Backpacking Challenge

grades 7 - 12 and adults

Forbush Flats May 7-8 (1 night) $45.00

1.7 miles each way

The hike: Down into a canyon to a pleasant camp by a creek, used to be the old Forbush homestead. There is a picnic table and outhouse (without the house). We will filter water from the creek to drink, and cook our meals on backpacking stoves.

Gear: Borrow a pack, tent, sleeping bag & sleeping pad for free!

• Girls must sign up with a CPR/First Aid trained adult ($45)
• Registration fees include breakfast and dinner, borrowed backpacking gear and patch.
• Minimum participants: 5 girls.  Maximum participants 10 girls.
• Girls must be accompanied by an adult.
• Reg. deadline is April 9, 2022.
• Refunds available only when event is cancelled.
• Backpacking Training is recommended for all adults.

Challenge Requirement

1. Girls only: Happy Trails Council's Own Patch (watch video & complete quiz).  Click here for more information.
2. Girl and adults: Training hike on your own: at least 2 miles, with hills!
3. Girls and adults: Zoom Pack check on April 28th 7:30-8:30pm
4. Overnight trip!

Trek Wild is a Volunteer led hiking and backpacking group in the GSCCC central/south area.
